With an island full of vacation amenities, a rich cultural heritage, fiercely guarded natural beauty, on top of a mild-year round climate, Hilton Head Island SC offers a four-season answer to respite from the daily grind.

Winter temperatures average in the 60s, perfect for a variety of "short-sleeved" sports, or a guided tour of the Island’s three major nature preserves, or wandering 12 miles of beach. Indoors, at the recently opened multi-million dollar Self Family Arts Center, you’ll find a calendar of events that includes art exhibits, dance and orchestra concerts, classes and outstanding theatrical performances. Delve into the Island’s past at The Coastal Discovery Museum, or pamper yourself at one of the area spas. Springtime on the Island bursts in with a blaze of color, two of the Island’s foremost spectacles, The MCI Classic - The Heritage of Golf and the Family Circle Magazine Cup women’s tennis championship.

Spring is also festival season on the island. Throughout the months of March and April, you’ll find an exciting array of festivities and activities to enjoy. Highlights include a tasting festival of fine vintage wines, a festival devoted to decadent chocolate creations, even a tour of the Island’s finest home kitchens. Summer brings families to the beach, for the simple pleasures of sun, sea and sand, and family entertainment at both Harbour Town and Shelter Cove. Labor Day heralds the beginning of autumn and the annual Celebrity Golf Tournament. Later in November, top teens and 20-somethings get the spotlight when the Golf World/Palmetto Dunes Collegiate golf tournament brings PGA and LPGA wannabes to three championship courses. Other annual autumn events include the Senior Windsurfing Championships, the La Junta Stovall Senior Women’s Invitational Golf Tournament, the Hilton Head Horse Show at Sea Pines Equestrian Center, and the competitive spice of the Annual Chili Cookoff.
